In an interview for the Novi Sad daily "Dnevnik", Joksimovic said that it is expected that funds for the financing of IPARD programme be approved from the IPA in 2015 for the first time, in order to provide direct support to agricultural producers as soon as possible.
That fact that Serbia was the first of all EU candidate countries to adopt the Basic agreement on the use of IPA II, thus creating the possibility for applying for additional funding from European funds, shows that Serbia has a most responsible approach towards the use of EU funds, the Minister reiterated.
Funds from IPA II Programme of the EU are grants and focus on improving the lives of citizens through specific projects or support to structural reforms.
According to the Basic agreement on the use of IPA II funds, the EU has earmarked €1.5 billion for the budget period of 2014-2020, which is approximately €200 million per year.
Joksimovic noted that the programming of IPA for the period from 2015 to 2017 is currently under way, and added that some of the most important areas that will be funded are support to the restructuring of public enterprises and social welfare programmes.
