Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic stated today that the Serbian Parliament should adopt soon a set of laws that will give citizens a better, faster and more available legal protection.
Selakovic told Beta news agency that by the end of the year the Serbian parliament should adopt the laws on free legal aid, protection of whistleblowers and protection of the right to trial within a reasonable time.
He explained that the law on free legal aid means that people who have a difficult financial situation and cannot afford a court proceedings will have the right to free legal aid, which will be available to them at all levels of local self-government.
The Minister stressed that this legal solution provides for the reimbursement from the state for costs of the trial if a citizen wins the case.
According to him, this document will allow the underprivileged to get legal aid funded by the state and all the necessary legal assistance.
