Milivoje Mihajlovic
Mihajlovic told a press conference that Serbia thus confirmed that it is the EU’s reliable partner in all areas, including the field of common security and defence policy.
We believe that this agreement is Serbia's contribution to world peace and security, he said, adding that the government also adopted bills regulating the activities in the areas of private security and detective activity.
He explained that this document governs a very important area in which more than 3,000 firms, employing between 25,000 and 60,000 people, operate.
It is estimated that private security have approximately 47,000 pieces of weapons, which is why it is necessary to regulate this area, he noted.
This law regulates the activity of legal and private entities in the field of private security, as well as the requirements for their licencing and supervision of their work, said Mihajlovic.
He also said that the government adopted the Bill on detective activities in order to create optimal conditions for carrying out those activities.
The Bill envisages that legal entities performing this activity cannot own a firearm, but a detective may be issued with a firearm licence for self-defence for a five-year period, he noted.
The Ministry of the Interior will remain competent in terms of issuing and revoking licences and conducting supervision, Mihajlovic observed.
He stated that the government also adopted a Bill on managing migrations, specifying the new competencies of the Serbian Refugee Commissariat.
Once this Bill is adopted, the Commissariat will be renamed into Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations and a single system for collecting and exchanging data relevant for migration management will be established.
The government also passed a Bill on the employment of foreigners, Mihajlovic added.
