Djokovic gets IFT player of the year award

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) named Serbian Novak Djokovic and Czech Petra Kvitova the best tennis players in 2011.

I am proud to have been named the ITF World Champion for 2011. Starting with victory in last year's Davis Cup Final, this has been an almost perfect 12 months for me. I have always dreamed about becoming the best in the world, and to have won three Grand Slam titles and finished the year as No. 1 is very special, Djokovic told the ITF website.
Djokovic began the year with a 43-match winning streak, and ended with three Grand Slam titles - Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. He finishes the year with 4,000 points ahead of Rafael Nadal. He won a total of ten tournaments in 2011.
Djokovic and Kvitova will receive their awards at the annual ITF World Champions Dinner on 5 June next year, in Paris, during Roland Garros.
