Serbian cyclist Ivan Stevic, member of the Partizan Cycling Club, is the winner of the 51st race "Through Serbia", which ended today in Belgrade.
After the last 168 km long section of the race from Lepenski Vir to Belgrade, Stevic was the first Serbian cyclist to triumph in this prestigious race in nine years.
The second place went to Michael Rasmussen from Denmark, and the third to Converset Mathieu from France.
The race was held with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development under the slogan "Tourism and Cycling Together", and this year it is dedicated to the promotion of the Danube Strategy.
Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric presented Stevic with the championship cup.
It is our great pleasure to endorse the most prestigious race in this part of south-eastern Europe. It is satisfying to see that the organisation is getting better every year and that there are more and more competitors. I hope next year there will be twice as many participants as today, Ciric observed.
