The Serbian women’s tennis team secured placement in the Fed Cup Group A after triumphing over Slovakia in the Fed Cup playoff series 3:2.

The decisive point was achieved in women’s doubles. Jelena Jankovic and Aleksandra Krunic overcame Daniela Hantuchova and Magdalena Rybarikova 2:1 (2:6, 7:5, 9:7).
The first day ended with a tie, 1:1. Slovakia took the lead thanks to Dominika Cibulkova’s victory over Bojana Jovanovski (4:6, 6:3, 6:1), but Ana Ivanovic levelled the tie by overpowering Daniela Hantuchova (6:2, 6:4).
On the second day, Ana Ivanovic retired from her match against Dominika Cibulkova in the first of the reverse singles to give Slovakia a 2:1 lead, but Jankovic defeated Hantuchova 6:2, 3:6, 7:5 to draw Serbia level at 2:2.
Serbia finally triumphed in doubles and secured placement in the Fed Cup Group A, while Slovakia will be playing in Group B.
