Serbia in Davis Cup quarter-finals

Novi Sad, 7 March 2011

The Serbian male tennis team beat India in Novi Sad yesterday in the first round of Davis Cup by a total score of 4:1.

Defending champions Serbia gained the fourth point thanks to Janko Tipsarevic, who beat Karim Rastogi 6:0, 6:1.

Previously, Victor Troicki triumphed over Somdev Devvarman 6:4, 6:2, 7:5 to give the 2010 winners of the competition a 3:1 lead against India and placement in the quarter-finals, where Serbia will engage Sweden.

On the first day, Troicki beat Rohan Bopanna 6:3, 6:3, 5:7, 3:6, 6:3, but Devvarman afterwards won the match against Tipsarevic 7:5, 7:5, 7:6 (7:3).

On Saturday, Serbia gained advantage of 2:1 thanks to men’s double Nenad Zimonjic–Ilija Bozoljac who triumphed over Devvarman–Bopanna 4:6, 6:3, 6:4, 7:6.
