Serbia remains four points clear of second place France in Group 7 with one round of matches left to play on Wednesday.
In front of 45,000 fans in Belgrade's RedStar Stadium, Nikola Zigic gave Serbia the lead with a 37th-minute header after a corner kick.
It took only five minutes in the second half for Serbia to double the lead, as Marko Pantelic made it 2-0 in the 50th minute with a precise shot in the bottom corner.
Second half substitute Zdravko Kuzmanovic added the third in the 78th minute with a shot that hit the crossbar before going in.
In the 87th minute, Milan Jovanovic made it 4-0 with a shot from 20 meters. A perfect ending was secured in the 90th minute, when Jovanovic dribbled past a few defenders before firing the ball into the back of the net.
Serbia will face hosts Lithuania on Wednesdey.
