Successful start of Serbian clubs in European football cups

Belgrade, 23 July 2009

Partizan Belgrade recorded the biggest victory in their European history with an eight-goal show against Rhyl (Wales) in the second leg match of the Champions' league second qualifying round stage.

Serbian champions beat Rhyl 12-0 on aggregate and will face Apoel (Cyprus) in the third qualifying round.

Red Star Belgrade and Sevojno advanced to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League (former UEFA Cup). Red Star defeated Slovenian Rudar Velenje 5-0 on aggregate (1-0 in Velenje and 4-0 in Belgrade).

After a goalless draw in the first leg, Serbia's Sevojno played 1-1 with Kaunas in Lithuania in the second leg.

In the third qualifying round, Red Star will face Georgian Dinamo Tbilisi, while Sevojno will meet Lille (France).
