In an interview with Tanjug news agency Kalanovic said that this year most of the funds will be invested in the development of infrastructure in municipalities throughout Serbia.
Owing to the construction works on Corridor 10 and NIP projects every municipality in Serbia will have its own construction sites next year which will lead to new jobs and contribute to regional development, making the municipalities more attractive for domestic and foreign investors in the long run, said Kalanovic.
She said that the funds of RSD 20.5 billion set aside for the NIP this year will be spent on 432 projects, of which two thirds of the fund is intended for projects of national importance, adding that she hopes all projects will be realized.
She said that besides funds from the budget, the NIP expects that from May onwards funds of RSD 6.7 billion will also be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB), which should be spent within two years and combined with budgetary funds the sum reaches €150 million.
Kalanovic stressed that there will also be other smaller projects related to transport infrastructure, such as regional projects for the continuation of the construction of bridges in Obrenovac, Pancevo, Nis and Sviljanac, said the Minister.
She said that another national project is the construction of infrastructure that is necessary for reviving the car industry in Serbia.
These are projects related to Fiat which are also of wider importance for the citizens of Kragujevac and the entire Sumadija District, said Kalanovic, adding that one of them is the construction of the Kragujevac-Batocina highway.
The Minster for NIP said that RSD 2 billion will be invested in underdeveloped municipalities and most of the funds will be spent on infrastructure and RSD 912 million on local roads.
Underdeveloped municipalities also need better utilities infrastructure, in which no investment has been made for years, she said.
Kalanovic said that RSD 250 million from NIP funds has been set aside for projects in Kosovo, which are mainly for constructing infrastructure in Serb majority areas.
Funds will also be invested in kindergartens and schools, said Kalanovic.
