He reiterated that EU integration and the issue of Kosovo-Metohija are two separate issues.
Djelic told Vecernje Novosti daily that there are no overnight revolutions in EU integration, but it is a hard-working and long-lasting process.
He announced visit of Hague tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz to Belgrade in November and will submit a report to the Security Council in December, after which the Council of Ministers will meet on December 9 to discuss about Serbia.
The Dutch ambassador to the EU told me that Holland’s stance remains firm as Holland expects arrest and extradition of Ratko Mladic in order to support SAA, he said.
Also, Europe is facing problems of internal organization and the most serious economic crisis since the WWII as well as with various global problems, he noted.
Therefore, we must be aware that we are not in EU’s centre of attention, but still we have the support from Brussels, Djelic noted adding that there is no other condition but cooperation with The Hague.
Asked about cooperation with EULEX, Djelic said that during his visit to Brussels there was no discussion on this mission and added that that EU integration and the issue of Kosovo-Metohija are two separate issues.
If we are blackmailed with Kosovo, we will not accept it. If we have to choose, we will choose to defend our territorial integrity, Djelic said.
Speaking on membership in the EU, we will become EU member in 2014, Djelic said.
He negated any shakes in the government following the “gas affair” and noted that Serbia is a serious country which implements agreed contracts, which means we will fight for our interests and the Russians for theirs.
We have a common interest, which is implementation of the gas and oil agreement, he concluded.
