In an interview for the Tanjug news agency, Matic said that the national mail service Posta Srbije will be the first to begin implementation of electronic signatures and added that she hopes that the Serbian government’s electronic service will begin to function by the beginning of next year at the latest.
She said that very soon licenses will be issued to operators of broadband wireless access WiMAX, which is available in other countries in the region.
The Minister said that infrastructure will be improved, the range of services offered will be broadened and prices will be reduced.
She said that e-administration will be introduced at various state levels – from the republic government to the local level, so that the degree of internet use is increased in public administration communication, businesses and among the general public. She added that this will lead to increased efficiency and transparency and reduce corruption.
Matic said that realisation of the project “e-government”, which consists of several different segments is beginning.
She said that she expects that one segment of this project, which is the government’s electronic service, will begin at the latest by the beginning of next year and will include the Serbian government’s Secretariat-General as well.
We wish to be part of the EU and become a developed country and it is normal that we should use advanced technology and provide our people with a chance to have good, well paid jobs, she said.
She said that the
construction of an IT Park in Indjija will encourage Serbian experts to return from abroad and work in Serbia.
The Minister stressed that the government recently approved amendments to the Decree on attracting foreign direct investments, which is very important for developing ICT in Serbia. She added that three sectors are of strategic interest, the car industry, information and communication technologies and the electronics industry.
Investors that invest more than €200 million and employ more than 1000 people will be approved a return of 25% of the sum invested from the Serbian budget, said Matic. She added that the new decree ensures equal treatment of foreign and domestic investors.
