In an interview for the news agency Tanjug, Mrkonjic said that part of these plans is construction of Corridor 10, modernisation of rural areas, modernisation of the Belgrade – Bar railway line, and Corridor 7, which means regulation of the Danube river routes, one of the most important in Europe.
He stressed that the state must create conditions for building important infrastructure and added that the new Serbian government will pay special attention to the development of all kinds of infrastructure projects, particularly transport infrastructure.
According to Mrkonjic, Corridor 10 could be completed within two years, while works on the railway line will be completed in four or five years. Works will begin in Presevo, where construction has already begun; the second point is Belgrade with the ring-road, the third is Dimitrovgrad, and the fourth Subotica.
Mrkonjic said that the funds for construction works have been secured and that Serbia has both the personnel and companies that can carry out such big projects.
Construction works on part of the motorway on the Pan-European Corridor 10 through Serbia, from Presevo to Vladicin Han have already begun, the minister said and added that this Corridor is of great importance for Serbian citizens, and for Europe as well because it connects Macedonia and Greece with other parts of the continent.
