Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said yesterday that at the new round of negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija the Belgrade delegation will continue to elaborate a comparative analysis of the models of substantial autonomy that exist in the world.
Jeremic, who was on a
one-day visit to Great Britain, said in an interview to the BBC that the discussion on the example of Hong Kong will be continued and that some other examples will also be examined, such as Oland Islands.
He said that in the negotiations on Kosovo issue Belgrade has not been in a good position because a part of international factors constantly encouraged the Albanian side, first of all the US who were saying openly that after December 10 they would fully support the Albanian proclamation of independence.
According to Jeremic, that frustrated the reaching of any kind of compromise between the two sides.
The Minister voiced hope that the EU in the finals of the negotiations will give its best to help reach a compromise and added that he believes that indications by the EU that they would not be ready to support unilateral moves after December 10 would be of crucial importance.
At the same time, in the talks for the BBC Jeremic voiced hope that the Pristina delegation will approach more seriously to the negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija in the next days since the pre-election campaign in the province has wrapped up.
