Serbia beat Azerbaijan in Euro 2008 qualifier

Baku, 17 October 2007

Nikola Zigic scored two goals as Serbia demolished Azerbaijan 6-1 Wednesday to keep alive their hopes of reaching the UEFA European Championship 2008 finals.

Zoran Tosic gave Serbia an early lead in the fourth minute. Zigic doubled the lead in the 18th minute.

Samir Aliyev pulled a goal back for Azerbaijan in the 26th minute.

Bosko Jankovic scored on a free kick from the right in the 42nd, and Zigic had his second goal two minutes later to make it 4-1 at halftime.

Substitutes Milan Smiljanic and Danko Lazovic scored in the 75th and 81st to complete the rout.

In their last two matches, Serbia will host Kazakhstan on November 17, and Poland four days later.
