The Serbian national football team succeeded last night in Lisbon to avoid defeat in the match against Portugal, in the 2008 European championship qualification round, since the match in Group A ended in a 1-1 draw.

Branislav Ivanovic scored a goal for Serbia in the 88th minute of the game.
Portugal’s Simao Sabrosa scored a goal earlier in the 11th minute, shooting a free kick from 20 meters.
Serbia scored 16 points in the ten matches played thus far, while Portugal, with the same number of matches played, has 17 points. Poland and Finland hold the first and second place respectively in Group A, with 21 and 19 points each.
Serbia will continue to play in the qualifying matches on October 13 in Armenia, while four days later, Serbia is to play against Azerbaijan.
