Asafa Powell clocks under 10 seconds at Artur Takac Memorial Meeting in Belgrade

Belgrade, 29 May 2007

World 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell, contesting his first 100 meter race for the season, clocked a meet record 9.97 seconds at the second Artur Takac Memorial Meeting at the Partizan Stadium in Belgrade.

Powell was quickest out of the blocks and led comfortably throughout the race to finish ahead of Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles, who clocked 10.11 seconds, and Jamaican compatriot Michael Frater with 10.19 secs.
