Second-seeded Serbian Jelena Jankovic defeated fourth-seeded Russian Dinara Safina to win the $1.34 million Family Circle Cup title in Charleston.

Jankovic needed one hour, 11 minutes to post a 6-2, 6-2 decision on the green clay at Family Circle Tennis Center.
Safina went ahead 2-0 in the second set, but lost the final six games to drop the match.
Following her victory in Charleston, the 22-year-old Jankovic earned $196,000 and moved up to seventh in the new WTA rankings.
