Serbia passed up the chance to move top of Group A when they suffered a 1-2 loss to previously winless Kazakhstan in their UEFA Euro 2008 qualifier in Almaty.

Kairat Ashirbekov scored the first goal in the 47th minute when his shot took a wicked deflection off Serbia defender Milan Stepanov. Nurbol Zhumaskaliyev made it 2-0 in the 61st minute with a header from a corner.
Nikola Zigic got one back for Serbia in the 68th and the visitors pressed for an equalizer but failed to convert numerous scoring opportunities.
Kazakhstan claimed their first competitive win since joining UEFA. Serbia finished with ten men as Zigic was red-carded for elbow offence in injury time.
