Athlete Olivera Jevtic and rower Nikola Stojic have been declared Athletes of the Year for 2006 by the Serbian Olympic Committee (OKS), whereas the acknowledgement for team sports went to national female volleyball and male water polo teams.
At the celebration held at the House of Parliament today in the presence of Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and numerous celebrities from sports and public lives, the awards to laureates were delivered by OKS President and Vice-President Ivan Curkovic and Snezana Lakicevic-Stojacic respectively.
The award "Sports and Community" was given to President of the Serbian Volleyball Association Aleksandar Boricic, whereas a special acknowledgement was given to table tennis player Zlatko Kesler for his contributions to promotion sports for the disabled.
A new logo of the Serbian Olympic team was also presented which Serbian sportsmen will wear at 2008 Beijing Olympics.
