Serbia-Montenegro placed 4th at men's volleyball world championship

Serbia and Montenegro was defeated by Bulgaria 25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 23-25 in the third place match at the men's volleyball world championship in Japan on Sunday.

The 2000 Sydney Olympic champions suffered three losses at the tournament - to Poland in the quarterfinal round, Brazil in semifinal, and Bulgaria.

It was Serbia and Montenegro’s last international tournament as a united team, since the countries declared their independence in June after a referendum in Montenegro.

Brazil defended men's volleyball world championship title with victory over Poland - 25-12, 25-22, 25-17.
