Miscevic recalled all that has been implemented in Serbia in the process of European integration, such as structural economic and other reforms, strengthening of capacities of public administration, the new Constitution and privatisation.
She stressed that reforms in Serbia are being implemented not just with the purpose of joining the EU, but with the desire to firmly establish democracy, the rule of law and a healthy market economy in Serbia.
Miscevic pointed to the fact that the Serbian administration and economy are ready to present projects and take over funds from the EU pre-accession assistance, which will happen when cooperation and relations between Serbia and the EU reach a new phase.
According to Miscevic, despite all difficulties, more than 70% of Serbian citizens are still in favour of Serbia joining the EU.
Head of the European Parliament delegation for South East Europe Doris Pack stressed that the right opportunity must be used to give support to Serbia. She added that it is very important that a convincing majority of the Serbian population favours entering the European community.
The inter-parliamentary meeting between representatives of the European and Serbian parliaments will continue tomorrow.
