It was the second career title in Djokovic's third final. The 19-year-old won his first title against Nicolas Massu at Amersfoort in July.
After dropping the first set 6-4, Djokovic looked to be in trouble when Melzer gained a break in the first game of the second set.
But Serbian recovered in the second set, converting two of his seven break points, and he dominated the decider.
Djokovic is up 6 places to career-best No.16, according to the newest ATP rankings on Monday.
