Serbia defeats Belgium 1-0 in Euro 2008 qualifier

A second-half goal from striker Nikola Zigic gave Serbia a 1-0 victory over Belgium in their Euro 2008 Group A qualifier on Saturday.

Zigic scored in the 55th minute after connecting with a perfect pass from Ivica Dragutinovic about six meters from the Belgian goal and sending a low shot into the right side of the net.
The home team dominated the first half without creating any clear-cut chances.
Marko Pantelic struck the post for Serbia two minutes into the second period.
After Serbia took the lead, Belgium opened up and Bart Goor hit the bar of the unguarded Serbian goal in the 64th minute after Stojkovic missed a cross and left his net wide open. Kevin Vandenbergh missed a good opportunity to equalize in injury time with a shot from inside the penalty zone that grazed the left post. Serbia, which took the lead in Group A with seven points in three matches, plays Armenia at home on Wednesday.
