Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Professor Dragan Glamočić, PhD, attended today in Gornja Radgona the opening of the 63rd AGRA International Fair of Agriculture and Food, one of the most significant events of its kind in the region.

Serbia’s partner status at agricultural fair confirmation of close relations with Slovenia

At the opening, Glamočić underlined that Serbia’s selection as partner country represents great recognition for domestic farmers, but also proof of the strong friendship between Serbia and Slovenia.
Addresses were also delivered by Slovenian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Food Mateja Čalušić and President of the Management Board of Pomurski Fair Janez Erjavec, who emphasised the importance of this event, which has been bringing together farmers, institutions and companies from over 30 countries for more than six decades.
Earlier today, Glamočić had a meeting with Čalušić, at which it was emphasised that Serbia and Slovenia have a long tradition of successful cooperation in agriculture and that this cooperation is further strengthened through Serbia’s participation as partner country at this year’s fair.
The meeting discussed opportunities for further strengthening of bilateral relations, with special emphasis on trade in agri-food products, the introduction of innovations in agriculture and addressing the consequences of climate change.
Glamočić noted that Serbia’s participation in AGRA is an important step towards strengthening economic cooperation and that joint projects and exchange of experiences will contribute to greater competitiveness and better market positioning of farmers.
He particularly pointed to Slovenia’s support for Serbia’s European integration process.
Čalušić assessed that Serbia and Slovenia face similar challenges in agriculture and stressed that joint action is needed to ensure the two countries’ agricultural systems are more resilient and sustainable.
The two ministers expressed readiness to intensify cooperation through exchange of knowledge, experiences and joint initiatives in the fields of agriculture, forestry and hunting.
