Djokovic retires due to backache

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic ended his participation in the 2006 Paris Open Championship yesterday by retiring in the match with Spanish Rafael Nadal due to a back injury.

Nadal led by 2:0 (6:4, 6:3) when Djokovic decided to drop out.
Djokovic is ranked 63rd on the mens ATP list and his placement in quarter finals at Roland Garros came as a big surprise since Djokovic beat players beyond his seeding on his way to the eight best ranked players at the tournament.
The placement among the eight best ranked at the grand slam tournament will cause Djokovic to climb significantly higher on the ATP list.
