Under 21 football national team of SCG loses in semi-finals to Ukraine

The Under 21 football national team of Serbia-Montenegro did not make it to the finals of the European Under 21 Championship in Portugal. They were knocked out last night by Ukraine 4-5 on penalty kicks.

The regular part of the match and the extra time was inconclusive with 0-0.

The series of five penalty kicks was indecisive with 4-4, until Aleksandar Maksimovic scored the fifth goal for Ukraine. Milan Purovic, attacker for Serbia-Montenegro did not manage to level, missing the goal.

The finals on June 4 will be in Porto, where Ukraine will face the Netherlands, who defeated France. The match for the third place is not being held therefore the third place will be shared by Serbia-Montenegro and France.
