Great possibilities for expansion of cooperation between Serbia and Mexico

Belgrade, 10 May 2024

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today during the talks with Ambassador of Mexico Carlos Isauro Félix Corona that traditionally very good political and friendly relations and mutual understanding in the international arena create space for opening new areas of cooperation.

Đurić pointed out that Serbia and Mexico share a strong commitment to respect for international law and commitment to multilateralism.

In accordance with that, Serbia is very grateful to Mexico for its consistent support on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and understanding for the positions with which Serbia appears in international organizations on that matter, he said.

The head of Serbian diplomacy noted that there are numerous untapped potentials for the improvement of bilateral economic relations, especially in the field of agriculture, because, although the exchange of goods has recorded constant growth in the past five years, economic cooperation is still significantly below the real possibilities of the two countries.

Đurić pointed out that it is very important for Serbia to continue working on building better relations with the countries of that part of the world through multilateral channels, that is, through regional organizations in which we have observer status, such as the Organization of American States and the Association of Caribbean States, where we hope for the support of Mexican friends.
