At the ceremony, on the occasion of the opening of the Month of Francophonie, Dacic pointed out that today, more than ever, the cultural connection and diversity of the Francophone world must be used as a factor of peace, in a world burdened by numerous crises.
He pointed out that today, half a century after its creation, Francophonie brings together more than a third of the member states of the United Nations and represents a place where answers to numerous global challenges can be sought.
According to him, in striving for full membership in this organisation, Serbia wants to be a part of that response, based on cooperation, solidarity and synergy of all members.
Also, as he added, Serbia wants to be additionally involved in all Francophonie activities that have a real impact on the population of the Francophone world, because only with joint efforts can we build an active, influential and determined Francophonie.
It is my honour to share with you tonight the decision of the government of Serbia to submit a candidacy for a change of status in the International Organisation Francophonie and become a full member of this community – defender of cultural diversity and promoter of the principle of solidarity in the service of peace, democracy and sustainable development, Dacic said.
He expressed the hope that all members of the Organisation will give full support to our country's candidacy, thus recognising it as an equal partner in building solid foundations of cooperation and fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to us by current and future generations.
Today, Serbia remains a reliable partner at all levels of cooperation, and as such it wants to make its full contribution to the International Organisation Francophonie and the achievement of its strategic goals, Dacic said.
