On the occasion of Europe Day, Minister Miscevic, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Serbia Annika Ben David paid tribute to the victims of last week's tragic events in Serbia.
Together with the ambassadors of the EU member states in Serbia, they unveiled a heart-shaped floral installation at Kalemegdan, representing the EU and Serbia, and thus paid tribute to the victims and expressed solidarity with the families and friends of the victims.
Today what matters is the solidarity and support that we have here at Kalemegdan and in this wonderful visit of all the ambassadors of the EU member states, and in the flowers that will be distributed to hospitals, schools and various institutions, to remind us not only of 9 May, Europe Day, but also of this sad 9 May, the Minister stated.
Head of the Delegation of the European Union Emanuele Giaufret said that today there are no celebrations because Serbia mourns the tragic loss of its children who died in an extremely violent way, and that is why, with Minister Miscevic and the ambassadors of the member states, he is laying a symbol - a carpet of heart-shaped flowers, which is in the colours of Serbia and the EU flag.
This is our message of support, solidarity and love for Serbia and the message that we stand by Serbia in these difficult times, said Giaufret.
Ambassador of Sweden Annika Ben David said that today we observe Europe Day at Kalemegdan with a heavy heart, but it is comforting to see that all EU countries stand in solidarity with Serbia.
Ben David said that the EU stands by Serbia in these difficult times and looks forward to welcoming Serbia to the European family.
