France defeat Spain for European Handball Championship title, Serbia-Montenegro finish ninth

Earlier Sunday, Denmark defeated Olympic champions Croatia 32-27 for the bronze medal. Spain beat Denmark 34-31 in the semifinals Saturday, after France topped Croatia 29-23.

Serbia and Montenegro finished ninth with two wins and four defeats.
