Prime Minister Ana Brnabic visited today the pharmaceutical company Hemofarm together with representatives of the Government and the diplomatic corps, where she was introduced to the innovative drug Corpos for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Brnabic pointed out that this drug is also available to patients in Serbia thanks to the cooperation between Hemofarm and the biggest biotechnology company Roche.
The production of the first innovative drug for the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis has begun in Serbia, which will significantly change the course of the disease and improve the quality of life of patients, the Prime Minister stated.
She pointed out that negotiations are underway with Hemofarm about the wider production of other innovative drugs in our country, and pointed out that in the last four years, the number of MS patients treated by the Serbian Health Insurance Fund has quadrupled.
Brnabic recalled that in 2019 their number was 1,000, and currently there are 4,000, and noted that the funds allocated from the budget for the treatment of patients suffering from rare diseases have increased 33 times in 10 years.
