In a statement to the Tanjug agency, Dacic pointed out that the US sincerely supports the position that the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) is something that was previously agreed upon and not subject to discussion, and that it must be formed in order for dialogue to continue and then proceed with the implementation of the agreement.
According to Dacic, Counselor of the US Department of State Derek Chollet and Special Envoy of the US Department of State for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar were clear in their support of Serbia's principled position.
We have received a clear assurance that the USA considers that the ZSO is what should be done first, now, not later, as well as that they highly value Serbia's constructive position, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reported.
Also, as he added, it is very important that the US seriously talks with its partners about the way in which Prime Minister of Pristina's temporary institutions Albin Kurti should be made aware of what must be done to form the ZSO.
We are satisfied with their position, we don't know how it will end, but Serbia will certainly be constructive, Dacic reiterated and added that the US supports the continuation of strategic and bilateral relations between Washington and Belgrade.
He noted that he also spoke with Senator Ron Johnson and Congresswoman Claudia Tenny, co-chair of the Serbian caucus in Congress, who proposed that a delegation of congressmen, headed by her, visit Serbia.
Dacic underlined that the 142nd anniversary of the establishment of relations between Serbia and the USA are being marked these days, and that it is a document that is still in force today, which speaks of the continuity of our relations.
