International course for UN staff officers at Jug base near Bujanovac

The Ministry of Defence stated that an international course for United Nations staff officers, which is attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and armed forces of seven foreign countries, started at the Jug military base near Bujanovac today, in the organisation of the Centre for Peace Operations.

During the three-week training course, participants will be trained to work on staff duties in peacekeeping operations in accordance with the procedures and standards of the United Nations.

The training programme covers the basic aspects of the functioning of integrated missions of the United Nations, familiarisation with the planning process in the military component of the mission, staff functions and procedures, and a significant part of the course is devoted to considering the latest experiences from participating in current peace operations under the auspices of the United Nations.

To conduct this course according to United Nations standards and procedures, the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations is certified by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support.

The interest of foreign countries in sending their personnel to this course is traditionally high, which speaks of trust in the training system of the Serbian Army for participation in peace operations.
