Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic invited parents today to take part in the work of schools in order to help in the prevention of problems arising from misbehaving children.
At a press conference concerning the presentation of projects developed by the Council for Prevention of Behavioural Problems of Children and Youth, Vuksanovic said that all the projects and activities of the council will not have much effect without the support of parents.
He said that a survey on parents' engagement in the work of schools and child education conducted by the ministry has yielded some "catastrophic results" and added that parents generally take little interest in the work of the school their child attends. Another noted phenomenon is that parents enrol their children in more and more extra-curricular activities so as to reduce the amount of time they have to spend on education of and care for their children.
Members of the Council announced a multimedia presentation on prevention of child and youth misbehaviour themed "Be good and have a good time", which will be implemented as of the beginning of the second term.
