Serbia remains committed to investments in water transport sector

Belgrade/Lyon, 29 June 2022

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic signed today in Lyon, with ministers of transport of countries of the Danube River basin, a document on efficient maintenance of river transport infrastructure of the Danube and its tributaries.

On that occasion, Momirovic pointed out that Serbia remains committed to investments in water infrastructure, and this is best shown by the projects of modernisation and development of ports and river roads through Serbia worth approximately €500 million.

We have clearly defined our mission and vision, to be one of the leading nations again when it comes to the participation of water transport in the total volume of transport, he said and added that Serbia is committed to the development of navigation on the Danube.

In addition to signing a document on efficient maintenance of the river transport infrastructure of the Danube and its tributaries, Momirovic held a meeting in Lyon with colleagues from the Western Balkans, as well as with ministers from the European Union, within the "Connecting Europe Days" conference.

On that occasion, the Minister reiterated that Serbia remains committed to European standards and its path to the European Union, emphasising that we want to strengthen our relations and connect as well as possible, which is why we strive for even more efficient investments, primarily those related to infrastructure.
