Serbia-Montenegro receive invitation for 2006 World Basketball Cup

Rome, 26 November 2005

The FIBA World Central Board assigned a wild card to Serbia and Montenegro, which will take part in the next year's World Championship in Japan. The federation accepted the proposal of general secretary Baumann, and granted the wild cards to Serbia-Montenegro, Italy, Turkey and Puerto Rico.

The draw for World Championship will took place in Tokyo on 15th January 2006. All teams will be drawn into four groups of six teams each.

Participants are: Germany, France, Spain, Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece, Serbia-Montenegro, Italy, Turkey, United States of America, Panama, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Puerto Rico, China, Lebanon, Qatar, Japan, Senegal, Nigeria, Angola, Australia and New Zealand.
