Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today in Cuprija the ceremonial opening of a factory of the Indian company "Motherson" and stated that Pomoravlje has a bright future when it comes to economic development.
At the opening of the factory, which will produce parts for car interiors of brands like Audi, Porsche, and BMW, Brnabic pointed out that Cuprija and Pomoravlje have slightly higher unemployment rate than Serbia's average and that it is very important that investors come to this part of our country.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to the representatives of the company "Motherson" for accepting the state's proposal to open a new factory in that city and thus help reduce the number of the unemployed.
She recalled that this company has been present in Serbia since 2017, when it decided to take over the PKC Group in Smederevo.
In this short time, they have done a lot for Serbia, she said, adding that this company has expanded its business in Smederevo, where it employs almost 4,000 people, and it opened a new plant in Cuprija, which will employ approximately 500 people by the end of 2025.
The Prime Minister said that "Motherson" was created as a family company with only €14, whereas today it is one of the most renowned in the automobile industry.
This shows what we can do when we believe in something, when we have a good team and a clear vision.
There is a lot of overlapping between Serbia and this company, because we also have a team, vision and development initiated by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, said Brnabic.
She expressed hope that this company will expand in Cuprija, that it will employ more than 500 people, because Serbia has fantastic young and hard-working people.
I am glad that precisely they got the chance to stay in Cuprija, to work, live and make families here. I am sure that in the coming months and years, we will provide them with many great opportunities and that they will use them, Brnabic pointed out.
The Prime Minister said that Pomoravlje has a bright future when it comes to economic development, announcing that the state will soon have great news for Paracin.
This is something we promised earlier, on which we have been working for more than a year, which we are bringing to an end and which will again be an engine that will position Cuprija and Paracin and the Pomoravlje District as a whole as a good investment destination, Brnabic underlined.
Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanaskovic also attended the opening of the factory, for which the cornerstone was laid in August 2020.
The investment is worth €38 million and the factory will employ at least 455 workers by the end of 2025.
