Mateja Kezman opened the scoring after Predrag Dordjevic's free kick from 17 metres on 44 minutes, with Zvonimir Vukic doubling up two minutes from time.
Serbia-Montenegro need to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina at home to definitely qualify. Should Spain now defeat San Marino, they would finish second unless Bosnia-Herzegovina defeat their neighbours, in which case Spain would qualify and the Bosnians would go to the play-offs. If Serbia-Montenegro draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Spain could still top the group by beating San Marino by four goals.
