At a meeting held at the main government building today, the participants stressed the importance of passing system legislation in the field of local-self government, including a law on property, a law on the City of Belgrade, and a law on funding local self-government.
They also agreed that representatives of the Serbian government and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities should be in constant dialogue in order to ensure a better functioning of local self-governments.
Taking part in the meeting were Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar, Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, and Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic.
The Standing Conference was represented by Chairman Kragujevac Mayor Veroljub Stevanovic, the mayors of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis and the heads of the municipalities of Apatin, Vranje, Vracar, Valjevo, Gornji Milanovac, Zajecar, Zrenjanin, Krusevac, Mladenovac, Novi Beograd, Razanj, Sombor, Sokobanja, and Sremski Karlovci.
