Successful recovery of Institute of Mining and Metallurgy in Bor

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in Bor today that the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy in this city is the best example of how it used to be before when this institution was indebted and when the salaries of miners in 2011 were RSD 55,000 per month, and how it is today when it has an annual revenue of €6 million and miners earn an average of RSD 95,000 per month.

During a visit to the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Mining and Smelting Complex (RTB) in Bor, Brnabic said that this Institute had losses and debts in the amount of €7 million, the equipment was old and an average salary was around €250, whereas today not only does it have no debts, but is directly and indirectly providing livelihood for 1,000 people.

In addition, average salaries in the mining sector rose over 70% in relation to 2011.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the Institute pays €3 million into the state budget annually and that it is one of the best institutes in Serbia.

Owing to the good management of the Institute and scientific workers, as well as a great support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, all debts have been repaid, the state-of-the-art equipment and technology purchased and put into operation and the average salary reached €800.

Brnabic concluded that the picture is completely different now, noting that we used to have huge losses at RTB Bor, which was one of the greatest problems for the state budget.
