Serbia-Montenegro win basketball tournament in Podgorica

Podgorica, 27 August 2005

MONTENEGRO, August 27, 2005 - Serbia-Montenegro's men's basketball team won ProMonte Super Cup tournament, defeating Lithuania Saturday. The Croatian team ranked second, followed by Lithuania and Slovenia.

New Jersey Nets center Nenad Krstic, of Serbia-Montenegro, was named MVP of the tournament.

The tournament was part of preparations of the national teams for the European championships, which will take place in Serbia and Montenegro on September 16-25.

Day 1 (August 25): Lithuania - Slovenia 94-85, Serbia-Montenegro - Croatia 74-71 (19-19, 23-23, 12-16, 20-13). Day 2 (August 26): Croatia - Lithuania 81-76, Serbia-Montenegro - Slovenia 74-66 (19-14, 15-15, 19-18, 21-19). Day 3 (August 27): Croatia - Slovenia 75-70, Serbia-Montenegro - Lithuania 94-80 (16-18, 21-27, 22-20, 35-15).
