Brnabic stated that the construction of 1,000 apartments will be a major undertaking for local construction companies, especially since the plan is to make a large number of apartments in other cities in the country too which will be for sale under favourable terms.
She said that at the moment around 23,500 security personnel are interested in buying an apartment and added that the price of the apartments that are being built by the state is €500 per square metre in Belgrade and Novi Sad, while in other cities it is lower.
According to her, about 1,500 such apartments are currently under construction in six cities, and the construction began a year ago.
All security personnel will have the right to buy an apartment without any restrictions in size, but priority will be given to those with unresolved housing situation or only partially resolved, Brnabic said and added that there will be apartments for everyone.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said that the first keys will be handed over in Vranje in seven days and noted that the construction of apartments in Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Sremska Mitrovica and Novi Sad is drawing to an end.
