Vuksanovic told a press conference that among the ministry’s priorities are a democratic and civic society, stable functioning of the education system, investment in facilities and equipment and EU integration of the education sector.
Assistant Minister of Education and Sport Vesna Fila said that the strategy promoted today is different from the education strategy adopted by the National Education Council.
She explained that the strategy will focus on more flexible curricula, application of modern teaching methods and introduction of modernised textbooks in Serbian schools.
Assistant Minister in charge of secondary education Dejana Subic-Milijic said that an action plan will be carried out in three stages, noting that the first phase includes introduction of 27 new profiles in 55 secondary schools in Serbia, while the remaining two phases refer to modernisation of equipment and teaching aids in schools.
Vuksanovic said that the ministry has five goals, including the introduction of computers in schools, improved learning of foreign languages, children’s safety at school, development of sports and maintaining the legislation activities of the ministry.
