Cvetkovic said that at its next session the government will adopt incentive measures for infrastructure investment.
He said that funds from the budget and loans from international financial institutions will be used to encourage accelerated infrastructure construction, primarily the road and railway links on the pan-European Corridor 10, which will provide more business to Serbian construction companies.
He said that one of the government’s priorities will be energy projects, in order to secure a more stable energy supply.
The Prime Minister announced that the first phase of the construction of the Banatski Dvor gas storage facility will be finished by the beginning of the next heating season, providing a storage capacity of 100 million to 150 million cubic metres of gas as well as a 5 million cubic metre daily supply.
He said that tenders will be announced for the construction of new thermoelectric plants, which will be in private majority ownership and should be able to produce 1,400 megawatts of electricity.
He said that other energy projects are also being planned which will ensure that Serbia is not dependent on imported energy, even in crisis situations.
Participants at the conference pointed to the importance of a regional approach for dealing with the global financial crisis and energy issues and said that the Central European Free Trade Agreement between countries of the region has shown that cooperation gives good results.
