Dragin told the journalists after the signing that Serbia wants to learn from those who are the best and noted that the sound Slovenian experience will be used to build a fast and successful environmental protection according to European standards.
On the occasion of the completion of
the sixth ministerial conference “Environment for Europe”, he said that this conference showed that future of policies of European, Caucasian and North American regions lies in joint cooperation and faster implementation of existing conventions and bilateral and multilateral projects for promotion of environment.
Presenting major conclusions of the conference, Dragin said that countries that cannot afford to fund environmental projects should do so in cooperation with developed countries.
He added that finally there is understanding that one country cannot act alone in environmental protection.
Podobnik said he will appoint a person in his office who will be in charge of the agreement with Serbia and suggested new joint projects especially within the International Commission for the Sava River Basin.
He expressed expectation that cooperation of Slovenia and Serbia will be good and added that he will personally back cooperation of Serbian and Slovenian companies and institutions in the area of waste management.
Podobnik announced that he will meet with Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic.
