The Serbian Ministry of Health said that it will dispatch three more sanitary vehicles with medicines and sanitary articles to medical centres in central Kosovo-Metohija on Monday, in addition to the first vehicle that has been sent from the Raska health centre to Zvecan health centre. At the same time, a truck carrying ten tonnes of medicines collected in a campaign of the Red Cross of Serbia-Montenegro will set off to Gracanica.
The Ministry said in a statement that the new three sanitary vehicles are sent to replace the previous four which were destroyed in the clashes. Through its network of health centres across the country, the Ministry is monitoring, guiding and carrying out actions on the ground which enable unimpeded functioning of health institutions which treat all those in need of health assistance.
Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic has ordered that all health centres across Serbia use all its financial and human resources available for providing aid to citizens of Kosovo-Metohija.
The injured who have been admitted to the health centres in the province, as well as those who were transported to hospitals in central Serbia, have received adequate medical treatment.
During the latest developments in Kosovo-Metohija, a number of health centres have been destroyed and damaged, read the statement. A hospital in Kosovo Polje and an infirmary in Prizren were burned down, while infirmaries in Obilic and Gnjilane, and a medical health centre in Kosovo Polje were heavily damaged.
No health workers have left the province, and those from the medical centres that were destroyed or burned down went to other medical centres that are still performing their regular activities.
