Ponos dismissed as army chief of staff

Serbian President Boris Tadic has dismissed Lt. Gen. Zdravko Ponos from his post as Serbian Army Chief of General Staff.
The president's press service announced that the command chain continues to function normally and Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic, the deputy chief of staff, will assume command of the army, pending the appointment of a new chief of staff.
The President is authorised by the Constitution (Article 112, paragraph 2), to command the army and appoint, promote or dismiss army officers.
