Police arrest criminal group in Zrenjanin

The Serbian Ministry of Interior stated that police members arrested members of a criminal group in Zrenjanin suspected of several criminal acts.
Zrenjanin Mayor Goran Knezevic (1957) and another ten members of the group were arrested.
The group included head of the Zrenjanin urban planning department Nikola Halas (1953), lawyer from Zrenjanin Djordje Matic (1961), investor from Belgrade Bojan Selimovic (1946), entrepreneur from Belgrade Branko Savkovic (1953), owner of "Gvozden" agency from Novi Sad Ugljesa Grgur (1962), former president of the Zrenjanin municipality tender commission Bratislav Tomic (1960), director of the Zrenjanin tourist organisation Milan Milosev (1972), as well as employees of "Gvozden" Vladan Racic, Biljana Stajkic (1986) and Marijana Sarenac (1972).
They are suspected of criminal association, abuse of position, bribery and forging official documents.
The group illegally damaged the Zrenjanin budget by nearly €3.5 million.
