Ljajic said that the strategy will oblige the employer to estimate the risk at every workplace and warn employees of its dangers.
According to him, assessment of workplaces, introduction of operational measures and checking their further efficiency will contribute to a safer and healthier working environment, which will improve the health of employees and reduce costs of employers.
Ljajic recalled that a council for safety and health at work has been formed already and announced a decree on measures for construction workers as well as a registry on injuries at work.
He stressed that a workplace must be safe, as regulated by the 2005 Law on occupational safety and health as well as numerous by-laws.
The Minister said that 16 persons got killed this year at their workplaces, whereas 827 of them were seriously injured, whereas last year 1,020 got injured, including 966 with serious injuries and 54 with a lethal outcome.
He also said that 24% of EU population suffer back pain whereas 22% complain about muscular pains, whereas the percentage of musculoskeletal disorders in Serbia reaches 40%.
